Nimrud Lens: A mystic Telescope To a Mystic World
“Having heard about your inventions and your proven records of accomplishment; I humbly wish to request your assistance in undertaking an upheaval task. I am a young scientist wanting to launch my first scientific ingenuity. I desire to invent an unprecedented gadget that would help improve the world’s astronomic challenges…” Sender: “Johncrown@gmail.com”
John Crown’s first outing upon his graduation from the University was to impress Mr. President on his scientific prowess. He wrote this mail to Mr. Cool requesting his assistance in making the entire world benefit from his invention on improving the viability of the telescopes.
Upon receiving this letter, Mr. Cool was full of confidence that time has come to imprint his name to stand the sand of time.
“Astronomic Challenges!” Mr. Cool said to himself. “There are a lot of inventions like that in the world. He began to do some researches about the possibilities of success in this kind of venture.
Mr. Cool inventions was not sure if he could scramble of any idea at all. He consulted one of his friends, Giovanni Jack who lived in the suburb of the city and who is a descendant of an Italian Scientist Giovanni Pettinato. “I understand your quests Mr. Cool, but you have to take it cool,” said Giovanni Jack. Mr. Cool vowed never to return home until he makes headway.
“Mr. Cool is nowhere to be found, said John Crown” His mobile lines were out of range, and that was a big disappointment for all of them. “He has failed me,” said John repeatedly. His face grimaced. They have just a few hours to the event, and Mr. Cool had gone extinct without any prior information.
John Crown checked his wristwatch, and it was quarter past nine in the morning. Almost fifteen minutes to the event. “What has happened to Mr. Cool?” he asked himself repeatedly. “Has he gone into hiding because of the nature of the task?” He knew within himself that the entire event would be ridiculous because he had nothing to show. He adjusted his ties indiscriminately and continued to bite his fingers.
“Ladies and Gentlemen,” that was the voice of the Master of the Ceremony introducing Mr. President and his entourage. The crowd cheered him up. John Crown moved towards him like a walking shadow managing a handshake with a toothed smile. He knew that everything was up. Would it be good to take the microphone and announce his failure at once? This could be more honorable. His phone rang severally, but he ignored all the calls. It was like a shattered dream. Now he tries to see who the foolish caller was. “Hello!” The quivered male voice said. “You have to take it cool; I am right behind.” The voice concluded. “Could it be him?” asked John Crown to his team. “We are all failures. Mr. Cool has our blueprint, and he has gone extinct with it. How can he forget our plan for becoming the world’s champion in the invention of the telescopes?”
“Hello, Ladies and gentlemen; join me to welcome Mr. Cool, the father of all inventions,” the Master of the Ceremony announced as the crowd gave him an applause. “John Crown scrolled through his phone and went through the text messages coming in from Mr. Cool about what he should do to make the presentation more unique. He felt like a massive stone was lifted away from his heart. He was taken aback for such a risk, which Mr. Cool had taken for this project. He and his team had to follow his instructions religiously.
Mr. Cool emerged with an object made from a natural rock crystal. It was slightly oval in shape. It was roughly ground and has a focal point about 11 centimeters from the flat side and a focal length of about 12cm. He had traveled far away to the Assyrian Palace of Nimrud in the modern Iraq. He had discovered the object which is a 3000-year-old piece of rock crystal called the Nimrud Lens. Looking at it evokes mystery and wonder. It is equivalent to a 3x magnifying glass. It could be assumed that when combined with another lens it could achieve greater magnification.
Mr. President could not believe his eyes. Even John Crown did not believe himself. He thanked Mr. Cool who was the brain behind his success. John told the world that a discovery and invention of such magnitude could help improve astronomers in exploring celestial objects, space and the physical universe as a whole. John, however, announced to the world that his team is working seriously to harness more objects like the Nimrud Lens to make the telescopes more user-friendly. The president was so impressed and promised to honor and finance Mr. Cool and his team to carry out such unprecedented task. Now, everyone knew that Mr. Cool is always cool in his inventions.
